Last Updated: May 2026

The SSC General Duty (GD) Constable examination is one of India's biggest recruitment drives, attracting millions of applicants for forces like BSF, CISF, CRPF, and Assam Rifles. Because of the massive volume, the Staff Selection Commission relies heavily on software to filter applications. The number one reason for an instant rejection? An incorrectly formatted photograph or signature.

1. SSC GD Photo Size and Dimensions

Your photograph must strictly adhere to the guidelines mentioned in the official SSC GD 2026 notification. Even a minor deviation in aspect ratio or KB size will block your form submission.

2. Do I Need the Date Printed on My Photo?

This is the most common point of confusion for SSC GD aspirants. In previous years, the SSC made it mandatory to have the date of capturing the photograph printed clearly at the bottom.

However, recent SSC notifications (including recent CGL and CHSL updates) have relaxed this rule. While it is heavily advised to ensure the photo is no more than 3 months old, printing the date is no longer strictly mandatory unless specifically highlighted in the final SSC GD 2026 bulletin. When in doubt, adding the date ensures your application is safe.

📸 Auto-Resize SSC GD Photo

You can use our official resizer to set your photo to exactly 3.5x4.5 cm and shrink it under 50KB. You can even auto-print your name and date at the bottom if you want to be extra safe!

3. SSC GD Signature Rules

Your signature verifies your identity. If it is blurry or too small, your application will be cancelled.
